As a Regional Delegate from Sherwood Park, Alberta . I arrived in Toronto Sunday evening. After a long day of travel I finally arrived at the hotel and met all the other girls from the other provinces. Everyone was so nice and i cant wart to find out what we will be doing throughout the week!

At 6:30 pm we entered into the ballroom of the Airport Holiday Inn in Toronto to attend the Opening Ceremonies of the 2016 Search for Miss Teenage Canada.  The sponsors were so kind and generous. I was happy to hear about their companies and even got to try  out some samples.

There was a good selection of high quality Oral B traveler’s toothbrushes specially monogrammed from Archer Dental, because they care about our oral hygiene when we’re away from home competing for a crown.

Nuvango logoNuvango gave us each our own designer clothing item! Later in the week our ensemble will be making a visit to the Nuvango headquarters (Tuesday July 19)

VPI Canada logoThere were free designer sunglasses from V.P.I. Canada, one pair for each regional delegate.

I found my pair of  hot pink Wayfarer sunglasses and i absolutely love them! Ill be sure to rock these glasses during sunny day outings. Thanks VPI Canada – I’ll make you proud.

social media ggregator hashtagioHashtagio is a Social Media Aggregator and User Generated Marketing Platform that was at the show collecting all our social media tagged with the #MissTeenageCanada2016  and then projecting it live at the party.  Even better, they make a single feed URL to which our parents and friends can subscribe to follow along in real time as we experience all the different activities here in Toronto.  And the mass of spontaneously issued images and text from all 65 delegates will be archived on this page in the Miss Teenage Canada main site and on the Miss Teen Canada Blog Network / Search for Miss Teenage Canada 2016.

Sweets Canada logo - new 2016Sam Dhutia from Sweets Canada was at the party doing chocolate tastings. Sam made a very informative and delicious chocolate tasting exhibit – after each sampling he generously gave out gourmet chocolate bars , and or edible flower chocolate bars, depending on our individual preferences, as discovered during the tastings.

Bradlee Ryall Golf AcademyAnother fun exhibit at the Opening Night Sponsors’ Party was from Bradlee Ryall Golf Academy which teaches golf lessons at six golf courses west of Toronto.

On Weds July 20th we’re all going to the golf academy to play a one-hole golf game for two ladies golf jackets (which are prizes from SWING active wear) at the end of our group lessons on two different courses.  Here at the party there was a live mini golf attraction set up for us to practice our putting.

Unfortunately I didn’t get a hole in one, maybe ill have better luck On Wednesday. 😉

Archers Arena logo At the party there was a bow and arrow (with a giant marshmallow on the pointy end) and we all took turns trying to hit a paper target that was setup in the ballroom.  We’ll ALL be playing Archery Tag in Toronto at Archers Arena on Thursday July 21st 2016.  On that night, look for the hashtag #archerytag.

Bata Shoe MuseumWe’ll be visiting the Bata Shoe Museum on Tuesday, July 19 at 11:30 a.m.

For our second assignment we were challenged to create  a picture that could be used to make a roll-up banner! I choose to a sparkle boarder that complimented the Miss Teenage Canada logo. I then added some girly photos and of coarse some polka dots. My design represents my my personality and I am extremely happy with how it turned out.

Sign Source solutions is  generously donating a roll-up banner to the Miss Teenage Canada organisation.  This versatile printing company specialises in making all types of business signs and event signage and that includes trade show style roll-up banners. They are located in Toronto and will be at the competition to pose with the winning design and artist.

I hope you enjoy my design as much as I do!

Sherwood Park is a large hamlet in Alberta, Canada located within Strathcona County. It is recognized as an urban service area that was established on farmland in 1955 just east of Edmonton. With a population of 68,782 in 2015, Sherwood Park has enough people to be Alberta’s seventh largest city. Although it is technically still a hamlet the government of Alberta considers it as equivalent to a city.

Sherwood Park offers a unique environment for visitors. With both urban and rural experiences, our region provides special escape for travellers and visitors. Enjoy the award winning Community Centre, the heart of Sherwood Park. Walk through scenic Broadmoor Lake Park, and visit cultural sites such as Festival Place Theatre or the Art Gallery.

Centre in the Park is a multi-use area being developed within the heart of Sherwood Park. It is a place where people live, work and spend their leisure time. I believe that it is the number one place to see when visiting Sherwood Park. It is a well deserved award winning Community Centre that has a lot to offer.

Centre in the Park Features

Community Centre – The Community Centre is a multi-use facility for culture, learning, services and celebrations.

  • The Library: two floors - 64,000 square feet, including space to park the Bookmobile, which serves rural Strathcona. The Strathcona County Library opened on November 1, 2010 in the Community Centre.
  • The Agora: community meeting place for celebrations, events, conferences
  • Council Chambers: a place for local municipal government, community meetings and presentations
  • Art Gallery: dedicated to art features, displays and education.
  • The Galleria: an interior street linking the entire centre to County Hall
  • The Artrium: a casual venue for art displays and corridor to meeting rooms and municipal offices
  • Family and Community Services: accessible space to deliver programs and services

  • Prairie Walk– A pedestrian walkway that links the Community Centre and central plaza area with Festival Place and Sherwood Park’s Heritage Trail system. Prairie Walk has been designed and landscaped to reflect Strathcona County’s history, culture and natural environment. It is my absolute favourite place to take pictures , and each time you visit there is something new to see and experience.

Sherwood Park is my home and I am thankful for everything it has to offer.

Until next time,

Canada Day 2016 was a blast! I started my morning off with a parade. I decorated my dads truck in red and white and made some giants signs that I covered in gems and sparkles. Everyone loved my parade entry and how creative it was. There were so many lovely floats and I’m glad I got to be apart of the fun.

In the afternoon I handed out candy and tattoos kids who were enjoying local festivities. The weather was beautiful and I even got a bit of a tan while volunteering. Everyone was so kind and excited to meet me. The kids thought I was a real princess and gave me lots of hugs . My day was absolutely perfect and I am thankful for everyone who helped me out. Especially my dad who helped me decorate his truck and for driving me in the parade.

Happy Birthday Canada!

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. My name is Samantha and i have been crowned Miss Teenage Sherwood Park 2016!

I am honoured to be representing my home town and am proud of myself for trying something new that pushed me out of my comfort zone. I am glad I competed in the Miss Teenage Alberta 2016 pageant as it helped me gain more confidence and poise. Everyone was so genuine and made the whole experience something I will never forget. Since i received a provincial title, I will be travelling to Toronto this July to compete for the title of Miss Teenage Canada 2016! I am thrilled to have this opportunity and can’t wait to walk the stage again.

Now to tell you a bit about my platform which is drunk driving prevention. It is unfortunate that this is still an issue in our society as it is 100% preventable. When you or someone you know chooses to drink and drive you are making a selfish decision that has the potential to affect the lives of many.  I believe that people need to be better educated about the affects of alcohol and how to safely consume it. I am certified in responsible liquor sales and services and know first hand just how uneducated some people are on this subject. I have taken the pledge to never drink and drive or allow someone to drink and drive, and i encourage others to do the same.

Thank you to all those who have supported me and encouraged me to do great things.
